Purpose
The purpose of the programme is to to build confidence, trust, teamwork and self-esteem within the group and to help them to expand their horizons gaining a greater understanding of the wider world and its expectations of them.
The core of the programme is built on the very successful Rotary Youth Leadership Award which Grass Routes have designed and delivered since 2003.
A visit to a higher educational establishment will be included. The programmes outcome should be that those selected can be effective leaders of their pier group and others going forwards.

School Staff
The school will be asked to provide staff for the offsite activities only. Although they are welcome at any stage. If they are involved they should be prepared to be fully immersed in the same activities as the participants. The Grass Routes staff will be drawn from our team (see details)The key role of coordinator for the school is very important and their efforts will greatly contribute to the success of the programme.
Students must commit to the whole programme and not drift off during the day or not turn up, letting down their own teams. Students on the leadership programme must be volunteers.
Prior to the programme participants will need to be given accurate information before the programme as there is a considerable amount of nonsense reaching participants from various sources about the content of programmes, which is inaccurate and unhelpful.
The programme is for about up to 20 participants.
